What you share stays between you and I! Psychologists are legally bound by confidentiality which means that what you discuss cannot be shared with anyone without your express consent.
There are some legal limitations to this rule, such as if your notes are subpoenaed by the court, or if you are at risk of harm.
If I become concerned about your wellbeing or safety, I will be required to take steps to ensure that duty of care is covered. Any potential breach of your confidentiality will be discussed with you prior to taking action.

What to expect
Starting or re-entering therapy can be scary! Many people feel a range of emotions like worry, nervousness, excitement, or hopefulness prior to their first appointment, and these are all completely normal! The first session is an opportunity to get to know you, to gain an understanding of what you are hoping to receive support with specifically, what your goals are for the future, and the sharing of practical skills to start assisting you to make improvements in your life. It’s also a good opportunity for us to see if it is a good therapeutic ‘fit’.
The initial session is 60 minutes long, as it involves a comprehensive assessment of your presenting issues, and history (including family, work and schooling) and collaboratively working on treatment goals. Additional sessions are 50-55 minutes long.
